TOS Review: Keyboarding for the Christian School

We were recently given Keyboarding for the Christian School: Elementary Version to review for TOS. I wasn't sure about reviewing it because my two younger kids - the ones this program is designed for - have never done ANY keyboarding unless you count "hen pecking" a few chat messages to their Grandma or playing an educational video game on-line. I wasn't sure how this was going to go over, but word processing is such an important skill to do well nowadays and it looked fun. And guess what? Sugar Maple REALLY enjoyed Keyboarding for the Christian School: Elementary Version!

FYI
Keyboarding for the Christian School Elementary Version is an award-winning e-book from Christian Small Publisher for $12.95. It is recommended for grades K-5. The e-book covers the basics of keyboarding with Miss Mabel the Ladybug.

What did we think?

You'll want to print this one out. An e-book is great for saving space on the shelves, but there's no practical way to use this program without printing the pages. So, since I've low on printer ink again, I opted to print out lesson-by-lesson as needed.

Lessons are short with lots of opportunity to practice specific keyboarding skills. I opted to have Sugar Maple work through the lessons at a slow-and-steady pace to ensure mastery before adding more keys in subsequent lessons. And just to make it more fun, Sugar Maple chose different fonts and colors to practice in. (She REALLY liked this part! LOL)

Focused on her Keyboarding Lesson

This was a fun beginning keyboarding program! And Sugar Maple has asked to continue on with the lessons. A sure sign of a curriculum winner!

  2. I don't know about printing. It worked great on the iPad. LOL But I would print it if I had one of those smaller tablets.

Mackenzie really liked it too. I was pleasantly surprised.
