Wednesday Hodgepodge: A Note to Self

1. Share one thing that really makes your day.
A cozy, comfy bed with a mountain of fluffy pillows and piles of soft blankets on a cold, cold night.

2. Lots of these kinds of lists out there, but one found here says the fifteen most colorful places on earth are:

Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy~Burano, Italy~Havana, Cuba~Rio de Janiero, Brazil~Chefchaouen, Morocco~Balat, Istanbul, Turkey~Menton, France~Jodhpur, India~La Baca, Buenos Aires, Argentina~Guanajuato, Mexico~Capetown, South Africa~Valparaiso, Chile~Wroclaw, Poland~San Francisco, California~and Pelourhino, Salvador, Brazil.

Of those listed which would you most like to see up close and in person? Of all the places you've seen or traveled in your own life, what would you say was one of the most colorful?

I've never traveled to any of these places listed, but I'd love to "adventure" around the U.S. in an RV, visiting each and every state (although probably not Hawaii by RV). San Francisco, California! (Perhaps I can take a planned detour to experience the redwoods too...)

3."Everything you want is on the other side of fear." Jack Canfield  In general, would you agree or disagree with that statement? Why?

Oftentimes the fear of the unknown or of change keeps us from moving forward and growing as a person. Longing to move forward to better things is a want all of us have. Sometimes it's only fear that holds us back.

4. Imagine you're stranded on a desert island and dessert appears...what do you hope it is? Do you ever struggle to remember which spelling is desert and which is dessert?

I'm not the only one that has to stop a minute and make sure I'm not eating DESERT?! My husband makes an awesome chocolate pudding pie with a graham cracker and peanut butter crust. I'm craving a slice! It would be perfect in the DESERT. Or anywhere.

5. What song almost always makes you cry?

6. January is National Soup Month.  Everything from soup to nutsin the soup, thick as pea soupsouped up...which saying most recently applies to your life in some way? Explain.

Does it count that I had tomato SOUP for lunch? with a grilled cheese sandwich? I've never heard of "everything from soup to nuts" or "in the soup", and "thick as pea soup" and "souped up" doesn't seem to fit anything going on in my life right now.

7. Write a two word note to your younger self. What does it say?

Joy comes.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

    1. Hi Wendy! I thought the header was perfect to show the change of seasons in my life. These last 3 years have been a whirlwind. And I usually do a tree theme as well.

  4. That song can make me cry too, especially if it's associated with soldier related video. I've never been a huge fan of chocolate pie (although I do love chocolate), but yours sounds good with the added peanut butter. Happy Wednesday!

    1. I think just about anything SOMEONE else makes tastes so much better! LOL Chocolate and peanut butter are two of my favorite things together. I made some peanut butter bars last weekend - NO BAKE - that were awesome! Mix 1 cup finely crushed honey graham crackers, 1 stick melted butter, 1 cup powered sugar and 1 cup PB together. Smush mixture flat into a 8x8 pan. Melt 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips and 2 T PB in microwave. Pour over the smushed mixture. Spread with a rubber spatula. Chill in fridge for a couple of hours. Yummy!

  5. I love that song too! I also love a bowl of tomato soup - with the grilled cheese or just with a big piece of crusty bread - yum!

    1. It's definitely our dream to full-time RV for a while after the kids are grown. We just have the issue of income...But anything is possible, right?

  9. Thick as pea soup refers to fog - I'm really glad that doesn't apply right now and I've never heard of the other ones either - love the randomness though :)

    1. We describe fog in a different way..."so thick you can cut it with a knife". I might have soup again for lunch! LOL

  10. We've talked about traveling around the US when we retire. Right now we have a little trailer that is just perfect for us. Planning on a trip to Colorado this summer!

    1. Oh, we looked at small travel trailers, but we would also need a more powerful towing vehicle. So, we've been researching Class B or camper vans, used of course, probably over a decade old, but it'll be a blast!
