WEATHER IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS
The WHITE STUFF has arrived! 11 inches of snow fell this past week, and another 1-3 inches are predicted for today. High temperatures hover just below freezing with lows dipping into the single digits. Winter has settled in.

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW and IN THE GARDEN

WHAT I'M DOING RIGHT NOW and AROUND THE HOUSE
Lounging on the sectional with Rosie and Winnie, our "golden" age dogs, sipping hot cocoa in my PJs and slippers, wondering when my boys will emerge from their slumber.

WEEKLY TO DO (FROM LAST WEEK & WEEK BEFORE BECAUSE I JUST HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO THEM)
☐ Fix Toilet Leak
☐ Fix Sink Leak

☐ Organize the Container Cupboard

BREAKFAST, LUNCH and DINNER
Breakfast: Leftover Hawaiian Pizza
Lunch: Pancakes and Scrambled Eggs
Dinner: Something with Beef, Potatoes and Frozen Veggies

(And yes, breakfast and lunch are flip-flopped, but why not?)

WHAT'S ON TV
Again, nothing as I'm waiting for February and premieres of my favorite shows on Hulu: "The Voice", "Survivor", 'The Amazing Race", and "The Big Bang Theory". Less TV viewing means more time for home improvement projects reading and crocheting!

FROM THE CRAFT BASKET
Call me CROCHET CRAZY, but I not only have 2 WIP afghans, an earthy-toned moss green, yellow and white ripple with fans (that I might just keep for MYSELF) and a temperature blanket that my daughter wants, and 3 WIP toddler beanies for my pastor and his wife's grandkids, but I think I might just start another temperature blanket based on high temperatures during my first year married. Wouldn't that be a great afghan to snuggle under together? But Tom and I still have to decide on colors and pattern...

    1. Oh, that's just a smidgeon of snow! LOL We've been very fortunate this winter that we aren't measuring snow in FEET. I'll definitely take a less snowy season!

  3. That much snow we would grind to a halt, just not used to it. The last time bad enough to stop the UK was in about '67 I think. Does look pretty though

    1. During the first storm, we stayed home, in PJs and had a quiet day. Even though we're used to getting a lot of snow, we also know that traveling in it is never a good idea unless you have to. It gives us an excuse to have a simple day without errands and activities!

    1. Aw, thanks, Jean! I do aspire to take more interesting photos. I'm not much for bothering with editing though...so composition and lighting is important. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Well, it's sad...but also show devoted love in so many ways. I'm nearing the last quarter of the book and anxious to see how it ends...

  6. We've only gotten a minimum of snow so far this winter. We are expecting more this weekend though! Love your afghans. I hope you have a great week. I hope you can stop by:

  7. I really like the ripple afghan. It looks great! I can't crochet that well. Funny story regarding my temperature quilt...I wasn't sure how to start each row, so ended up adding another double crochet with each row. My afghan looks very funny. But, good news - I figured it out. I am straightening things out from that point on.

    1. Oh, no! Yeah, until you can "read" your crochet stitches, counting each and every row to make sure there are the same number keeps you on track. It's easy to add or lose a stitch, especially with SC and DC. You aren't the only one that this has happened to! LOL

  8. Oh funny! I noticed breakfadt and lunch were flipped, but it didn't bother me cuz I had soup for breakfast yesterday. Who cares, right? So . . . you actually kept track of the temperatures the first year you were married? Or will you have to research it to make the temperature afghan?

    1. There's a number of websites that keep records of weather. The only issue I have found is that they don't have my EXACT town, being super tiny. I'm going to have to go with either a town 30 minutes from here or 20 minutes from where we married (because that's a small town too).

  10. I love the fans afghan, I don't think I've seen one like that before. I've made a couple of ripple afghans but I like how yours seems more delicate and complicated looking

    1. The pattern is from Red Heart and the link is above. It's actually quite an easy pattern, but counts need to be ON because the fans won't line up otherwise. I had to remove 9 rows a couple of weeks ago because my count was just a couple off.

  11. 11 inches; I'm at the point I'm jealous. It's bitterly cold here but we have yet to see any snow this year (for playing in anyway; we have gotten a dusting here and there) but as much as I do not enjoy the cold weather and all that winter brings I do love to watch that first major snowstorm and enjoy a day or two of sledding and embracing the snow.

    1. So far! LOL February is usually our snowiest month...We've had some HIGH snow winters the last couple of years so it's nice to have one that isn't quite so bad. We can still look out our first story windows! LOL

    1. Thanks so much! My daughter is just getting into crocheting. I can't teach her as I'm left-handed and she isn't. And for some odd reason I crochet backwards and inside out. LOL No one can follow what I'm doing!

    1. Hi Caroline! That's a snap of a spruce tree in our "side" yard with our red and white "barn" chicken coop in the background. (The coop is actually only 6x4 for a size comparison.) I love the contrast of whites and grays with the bright red.
