IN THE GARDEN
My men cleared away some of the downed trees, cutting them up with a chainsaw and ax then stacking in the shed. Plenty of wood for winter bonfires!

CREATING FROM THE CRAFT BASKET
It's time to UP-CYCLE! After seeing this idea on Filth Wizardry, I decided to give it a try (although I didn't follow her pattern precisely). I removed the plastic label from a no-brand jug of bleach, then my husband cut the top off just below the handle. I hole-punched around the edge (without worrying too much about being straight and even). Using 2 strands of Caron worsted weight yarn, I SC around the top, then did a round of HDC, making handles on each side, before a final round of HDC. Most of my creating was done at the lake while my husband fished nearby. I had a GREAT view (but the rock I was sitting on got a bit uncomfortable).
I'm sharing my crocheting creations over at Lucy Blossom Crafts (Mondays), Frontier Dreams (Tuesdays), The Philosopher's Wife (Tuesdays), Small Things (Wednesdays), Oombawka Design (Wednesdays), and Lunamon Design (Wednesdays).

Dropping in from the link to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteSame to you, Paula! I hope you are feeling better!
DeleteLove the upcycle project!! I read Home Front, its good. Hope your week is a good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm ALWAYS looking to repurpose things if I can. This makes a great, sturdy carrying "bag". I enjoy Home Front, and borrowed another Hannah book from the library.
DeleteLove what's for dinner! I had that one day last week! And the potato is awesome! I like your upcycle project. Very clever. I didn't post a daybook entry, but ai'm reading some anyway. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI'm not able to comment on your blog, but then again it's RESTING. LOL I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. See you in 2016!
DeleteGreat lake pictures! I love the pic of the heart shaped potato and your up-cycle project. The yarn looks just right there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jerralea! The jug has a new use! I hope to make some more. I have a few other cleaning jugs that would work up great into carrying containers for some items. I'm very blessed to live where we can enjoy MANY lakes.
DeleteLove the upcycled tub, it looks so peaceful at the lake, you need to remember to take a blanket to sit on next time and maybe one to wrap yourself up in :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea! Sometimes I just don't think about how cold it really us sitting near the lake...on a rock. LOL Summer was so fabulous temperature wise that I'm not ready to think about heavy coats, hats and mittens.
DeleteI love the upcycled tub too, and a fantastic place to sit and crochet as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lucy! It is a WONDERFUL place to relax and crochet...or read, take photographs, picnic. LOL
DeleteHave a happy thanksgving! Great pictures of the lake :)
