Wednesday Hodgepodge: Some THINGS and Other THINGS

1.July 15th is National Give Something Away Day.  What can you give away? Will you?

Oh, I have a large cardboard box and several bags of clothes to donate. It's been sitting in my livingroom for several months some time. A perfect time to finally donate! Now, to get into town with the heavy summer tourist traffic...

2. Do you have a mantra? Please share with the class if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm a worrier. I worry about events that haven't happened or may never happen, but could happen! So my mantra: Relax! Sheesh!

3. Who does the grocery shopping in your house? How many times a week do you shop? Do you make a list or pray for inspiration in the produce aisle?

My husband will pick up some things on his way home from work, but for the most part I do the shopping. And I hate to shop...I go as little as possible with a list and get out just as quick as lines allow!

4. Is there a TV show you're embarrassed to say you watch? You're going to tell us what it is, right?

OK, confession time! I watched a season of "Little Women: LA". I don't even remember the network it's on. It just popped up somewhere and I was bored and clicked on it. So much drama...such a waste of time...but I got sucked in somehow. It's not MY fault!

5. A recent article listed fifteen words we should eliminate from our (written) vocabulary in order to sound smarter-

that, went, honestly, absolutely, very, really, amazing, always, never, literally, just, maybe, stuff, things, and irregardless

Of the fifteen, which word is your most overused?

I'm not sure I overuse it, but I try not to use the word "things". There are more specific, descriptive words to use in place of that word. Sometimes it makes sense to use it though.

6. So apparently dying your hair gray (in your youth!) is a thing right now. It's called 'The Granny Hair' trend. Your thoughts?

I'm FINALLY hip!

7. A while back Buzz Feed asked members to share the most beautiful sentence they've read in a piece of literature. A hard thing to narrow down, at least for me, but let's try. What's one of the most beautiful sentences you've ever read in a piece of literature?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Happy Hodgepodging!

    1. I do try to have fun and light-hearted as much as possible. I used to be a terrible worrier, but not, with Him, I don't worry as much. My husband reminds me! LOL

  5. Isn't it funny how we will take stuff out of our clothes, homes, ect, and put them in a box or bag to take somewhere and it seems to not move. I admit to moving my clutter from the closet to the bag but don't always take the next step. You are not alone in your journey of purging closets!

    1. Well, I figure we REALLY don't need the stuff if it continues to sit in boxes IN SIGHT and no one mentions them, asks for them or goes through the boxes. It's safe to go!

  6. I'm kicking myself for not using a Bible verse for my quote! There are so many possibilities!

    1. A bible verse was my first thought...and I couldn't think of anything better for the very first verse! I did ponder something else - a book? a movie? - but nothing came up.

  7. I have been dejunking my house for a couple of years now - since I retired and everytime a box or bag heads out the door to goodwill I feel so much lighter!

  9. Oh I love your best line of literature - it has to be that or "in the beginning was the word..." doesn't it!
