Tuesday Coffee Chat: Shhhh! Random Confession!

This week at Time Out for Mom, Leslie's asking for a random confession. Wonder what tidbit I should share? or maybe shouldn't share?
______________________________

I don't shower every day.

There. I said it. I shared it. But it's not really as stinky as it seems. How much sweating can I do when it's 2 degrees outside and a "balmy" 58-60 degrees INSIDE the house? And it's not like I'm gardening  or chasing chickens and ducks. The garden is under 3 feet of snow and the flock isn't venturing out into that either!

There's a reason behind my shower every-other-day hygiene:

My skin and hair is SO dry this time of year.

I'm itchy and flaky, scaly like a snake. Even Aquaphor doesn't help. Coconut oil?

Ready to confess?

  1. Hahaha. I have to laugh. I have the same confession. And I have terribly dry skin as well. I would try coconut oil or cocoa butter. Remember not all "lotions" are alike. Many are so loaded with chemicals and such, but do nothing for you. That said, sometimes you need to use them. I know Eucerin has some very good lotions. As for hair - coconut oil. I've heard it works.

    1. I have Palmer's Cocoa Butter, but I'm sure it's not "pure" cocoa butter. Do I dare look at the ingredient list? ;) I love the smell of it! Eucerin and Aquaphor are mostly petroleum jelly (I think). So messy!

  2. Me too!! I often don't want to wake the kids up, so I will hold off and hold off...then the time never seems to be tight!

    1. That too! But mostly because I don't want to add to the itch and I don't see the need. Obviously when I'm sweating this summer, playing with chickens and ducks, gardening I'll be showering every day.

  3. I don't shower every day, either. There's really no need for it unless you're working in smelly stuff, or sweating/making body odor. I do bathe frequently, but leave showers for the days I have to wash my hair - which is far less often in the cold winter months than in the other three seasons.

    1. I agree! With all the processing in my hair and curls, it's like straw right now even with conditioners. Coconut oil? LOL I may only wash my hair 1-2 times a week right now!

  4. I could have confessed that as well. I have the humidifier going day and night and I still have dry skin.

    1. No humidifier here, but I'm making due! Winter can't last too much longer...

  5. ha! I used to be like this too - and for the same reason, my skin would dry out. And honestly unless it is stinking hot summer day of garden work (which is only 2 months of the year for me), I am not really getting that dirty. Sometimes, I do get in the shower, but it's a couple minutes of hot water: I don't use the soap!
However, now that I am actually doing a good workout every day, I SWEAT!! so quick shower is necessary. Or, a nice hot soak in the tub at the end of the day. Also, a good coconut and lime scrub followed by some coconut lotion has kept the dry scalies away. :)

  6. I shower every day except on the weekends - I work as an office manager and I never really know what I will be doing, so there are days when I come home and lose myself in a hot shower to rid me of the day. On the weekend, its like a vacation from responsibility.

  7. Sorry I am late. My long haul trucker husband got home a couple of days ago, after a month away.
This is a brave post. Maybe I am a bit OCD about it, but I hate going without a shower! I have my reasons, though. We have been doing bathroom remodeling. *augh*
