Wednesday Hodgepodge: MARCHing On...

1. 'In like a lion, out like a lamb'...does the first part of this saying describing March weather ring true where you live?

Well, February was one of the coldest, snowiest months on record for Maine. I saw a meme on Facebook stating that our average temperature was a mere 2 degrees, and I believe it! But March seems to brought along a tad of SPRING with "her". Today, it's 46 degrees! So, I'm hoping when April arrives I'll be digging in the garden, but Maine is known to have snow right through mid-April.

2. March 4th is National Grammar Day. What common grammatical error bothers you the most?

Grammar errors don't bother me. Facebook, blogging and texts are for PERSONAL messages, not English college class or professional publications. (How many errors have I made so far? LOL) What DOES bother me - trying to decipher text-ese with all those shortened words, missing vowels, and initials that mean whole sentences. (Anyone want to tell me what YOLO means? I hope it's nothing inappropriate...)

3. William Arthur Ward says- 'The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.' Which one are you?

Can someone be a bit of each? I can complain. Whine. But I know that things will get better so I muddle through, making changes, going with the flow.

4. What's something you need to 'march forth and conquer' this month?

My To Do list. Anyone want to pitch in?

5. An ongoing debate around here...do you dust first, then vacuum or vacuum first, then dust? Of the two routine household chores, which do you dislike the least? How's that for wording?

Dust? I have this debate about sweeping floors and then vacuuming or vacuuming and then sweeping. (We have both carpet and linoleum downstairs.) I've decided that it doesn't matter! Both chores need doing no matter what order. Or perhaps do them at the same time!

6. According to thrilllist.com, the ten most photographed sites in the U.S.A. are- Cinderella's Castle in Orlando, Southernmost House in Key West Florida, The Space Needle in Seattle, The Site of the Boston Massacre in Boston, The Bellagio Lake/fountains in Las Vegas, The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, Coit Tower in San Fransisco, The Art Institute of Chicago, Niagara Falls, and snagging the number one spot-The Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

How many on this list have you photographed? Which on the list would you most like to visit and photograph?

I have photographed the Space Needle in Seattle and the Lincoln Memorial in DC. It's ironic living so close to Boston - 2 1/2 hours - that I have never been the site of the Boston Massacre...But I would love to photograph Niagara. Nature photography is something I'm most drawn too.

7. Fifty years ago Monday (March 2, 1965) The Sound of Music premiered at the Rivoli Theatre in NYC. Have you seen the film? Do you own a copy? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love it (or not)? Ten=best movie ever. If you're a fan, what's your favorite scene or song from the movie?

I have never seen the movie all the way through, just bits and pieces, but somehow I know the songs! Perhaps I should see if the library has it before rating...

8. Insert your own random thought here.

    1. Hi Hilary! It's not uncommon for it to snow here into April either....or for some snow to linger into May. Last year was just a cools spring that we had snow until the 3rd week of May in the woods! And our fruit trees never really blossomed. :/

  3. YOLO-you only live once. We got about 5 inches of snow on Tuesday with ice, and another 4 or so today. We are ready for spring here too! Hoping today was winter's last big blast, but we've had snow on Easter here before too so we'll see. You should see the movie. It is such a great story.
