New Leaf Publishing Review: World of Science and World of Animals

Do you have kids that LOVE science and animals? Or leafing through books with lots of wildlife photos, cool diagrams and inside looks into how things work? Or might need some supplemental learning in these areas? Check out World of Science and The World of Animals by My Father's World and Master Books!

World of Science, a hardcover book with large typeset, has over 240 pages of brightly detailed diagrams and photos, and 60 easy-to-pull together experiments. A perfect mix of information and hands-on fun!

World of Science's Light
World of Science's Making a Spectrum
Experiment

But add in The World of Animals...and you've got a great set of science resource books!

How About Some WORMS from The World of Animals?
Or Tortoises, Turtles and Terrapins?

Topics covered? Here's just a few!

Arthropods and Amphibians
Energy, Motion and Machines
Mammals and Reptiles
Light and Sound
Worms, Snails and Starfish
Air and Flight
Fish and Birds
Weather and Chemistry

The younger Saplings found these books fun to look at and read! But not as a "regular school books". They perused these at bedtime and in the van going here-and-there; pleasure books with "hidden learning". (Aren't these the best kind of books?) On the other hand, White Pine, at 13, thought they lacked information so we'll GRADE them ELEMENTARY-AGE. LOL

Enjoying some Before Bedtime Perusing

For me, I especially like the Science Discovery boxes in World of Science that give short blurbs about famous Scientists - not all of our science books "talk" scientists! - and the green info boxes in The World of Animals that list characteristics of a particular animal. These blurp boxes are very convenient and helpful to young learners! However, I wish there were more detailed explanations of the whys and hows after the experiments in World of Science. This is just a little quibble though!

These are definite home library children's books for learning a little something about science and animals! Want more details? Click on any of the highlighted above book titles!
