Welcome Home Chickens

Our chickens now have their very own home! A cute little orange coop complete with a wired window, 2 roosting sticks, a slide-out floor for easy cleaning, 4 nesting boxes, and a partially covered run. Happy homecoming, Chickens!

Check out S's video describing our coop! (And yes, his jeans NEVER stay up! LOL)

Look how much our little chickens have changed since hatching! It's amazing! Sometimes we think we SEE them growing!

And now!

With a little more planning and work, A, J, J's friend T, C, and S constructed a  LONG run for the chicks (about 16x4). The older boys enjoyed using the staple gun and wire cutters! And now the chickens have PLENTY of space to dig, eat plants and bugs, and exercise.

The chicks are VERY happy with their space! (And I'm happy to have them out of the house! LOL) What's next for our chicks? Well, when we figure out which ones are roosters they will be given to new homes and in a couple of months, Cheeper should start laying eggs!

  4. Just found you at About a Mom blog hop and I must say... I'm totally jealous! I want chickens soo badly but we're not zoned for it in my neighborhood. We homeschool also but I haven't blogged about that, yet. My blog is still pretty new but I'd love it if you'd come check it out.
