It's THAT Time of Year! Curriculum 2011-2012!

It's that time of year again! Although some homeschoolers have already started their new year, others, like us, still have a few more weeks of summer vacation. (6 MORE! LOL)  But we're all thinking about curriculum and planning for our new year!
Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers
Kris at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers is having a linky party to share curriculum today. So, join up! Or grab some iced (sweet) tea and read along for ideas!

ETA: And I'm joining up with Heart of the Matter for her "Not" Back to School Blog Hop!

Wishing all of you reading (and not reading LOL) a fun learning year!

  1. We are still enjoying summer too. Actually we just started our break last week and won't start "school" again until September. I love looking at other curriculum choices, it gives me such good ideas to research. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Ooh, it's always dangerous for me to look at other people's curriculum. Everything always looks so great, and then I'm tempted to SHOP!

I'm in the middle of planning for next year, too. I have the year generally mapped out; now I'm filling in the details. Meanwhile, the kids are enjoying a nice, long break!

Have a great six weeks off, and a great year of homeschooling!

  6. It can't be time to think of such things! I'll have to pull a few things out that we are using next year to share... If I can wrap my brain around the idea. Thanks for sharing yours!

  17. We took about a month off back in May so we are back in full swing here. We have done and are doing several of the same things. I just posted my revised plans for third grade today. :)

  18. Those look like great picks. These curriculum sharing posts are a bag of mixed blessings. I've already ordered all my curriculum, but invariably I find one or two books (like your "Draw Write Now") that I start wishing maybe I had seen *before* I ordered my own books.

  19. Looks awesome! It is an exciting, yet daunting task, choosing curricula for our kids, isn't it? But, I am so glad that we have the freedom to choose what will work best with each of our children according to their needs and interests.

Your 4th grader's list looks very similar to mine! We, too, are using AAS, Saxon Math and Apologia Science! My older guys (7th and 8th) will be using the Saxon Algebra 1/2, as well!
:-) Handwriting without Tears has worked great here, and we will continue to use it with our littles.

    May God bless our homeschools!

  24. What fun books & plans you have for this year!! I love seeing favorites in other homes too!

I think you asked about "sexing" 6 week old chicks - we were able to tell when our roosters started to look like roosters. Not certain when that was, they tend to be taller, and the comb is the most differentiating part of them. We were able to compare 2 of same breeds and could tell one was very different. That was the only way we were able to tell. Not sure that helps!
We just hatched out our first 2 chicks today from our own eggs and I am hoping for fewer boys than girls! We will see!
    Happy schooling!
    Blessings,
    Janelle
