What WONDERFUL bright, breezy Spring weather we've been having these last couple of days! The warmer temperatures got us in the mood to start working on our 4H projects! The kids 4H group's focus this year is Outdoor Recreation and Education, so J is planning our 12x6 raised vegetable garden and C is creating a 6x2 raised flower box.
Today J and C chose their plants, filled out the Gurney order form, filled out their 4H expense logs, and graphed their gardens. (I found this GREAT site for creating customized graph and note-taking pages here.)
J choose the following vegetable and herb plants: Tendersweet Carrot, Rainbow Bells Tomato, Sweet Banana Pepper, Early Contender Bean, Sugar Ann Pea, Lincoln Pea, Vital Green Spinach, Vegetable Spaghetti Squash, Eureka Hybrid Cucumber, Kohlrabi, Sweet Basil, Oregano, and Candy Hybrid Onion.

The kids Jack Beans and Scarlett Runners from last week's Eco Kids class at the library have germinated and are starting to break the surface of the soil.

Now, the kids got outside of course! I have MULTIPLE pairs of pants and socks drying on backs of chairs and boots and sneakers lined up by the heater vent. The snow is slushy! And there's LOTS of pooled water and mud to explore!
